Google Search Console + AI

Connect Google Search Console to Cursor with MCP

Work on your site in Cursor while asking what its pages already earn from Google. AskGSC brings read-only Search Console metrics into the MCP-capable editor; Cursor can then compare those numbers with the files you choose to inspect.

Choose the page to edit before touching the code

A page ranking around position 14 might need a clearer answer to its main query—not a redesign of your entire site. Cursor can put the Search Console page–query evidence beside your project files. A ranking number is a clue, not an instruction to rewrite blindly.

From a search query to a targeted editor review

01

Find candidate pages

Query one GSC property for query–page pairs with meaningful impressions and average positions around 11–20. Use a complete date window and check click volume.

02

Inspect the actual source

Open the matching route, title, heading and content files in Cursor. Verify that the user's intent appears in the page; GSC itself does not return your HTML or code.

03

Decide on one change

Ask for a proposed edit and a measurable follow-up, then review the diff manually. Record the date so later GSC comparisons use equivalent periods.

Prompts that connect search demand to source code

Use the MCP tools for Search Console evidence and Cursor's project context for the source. Neither source alone tells the whole story.

Use the exact siteUrl returned by the property-list tool. Do not assume missing query rows are zero.

01Pick the next SEO page

Using AskGSC, list query–page pairs for [PROPERTY] over the last complete 28 days with at least [MIN_IMPRESSIONS] impressions and average positions 11–20. Group by page and shortlist three URLs. For each, tell me which project file to inspect; do not claim you have read the HTML from GSC.

02Check intent against code

For [PROPERTY] and [PAGE URL], find the main GSC queries, clicks, impressions and CTR over the last complete 28 days. Then inspect the corresponding page in my Cursor workspace. Identify one search intent the page may not answer clearly, quoting the existing heading or section from the code.

03Prepare a measurable edit

Compare [PAGE URL] in [PROPERTY] over two equal complete 28-day periods. Explain whether clicks, impressions or query mix changed. Review the route and metadata in this repo, propose one small edit with a diff, and list what to recheck in GSC after publication.

A page near the top 10 is not automatically a quick win

01

GSC evidence

One URL receives impressions on relevant queries with average positions between 11 and 20.

02

Editor investigation

Check whether the title, H1 and content actually address those queries; verify that the page exists in this project.

03

Decision boundary

Do not promise top-10 rankings. Edit only when intent and page evidence justify it, then compare results later.

AskGSC does not crawl your repository or edit your site

The hosted MCP exposes three read-only Search Console tools: properties, Search Analytics and period comparisons. It cannot inspect on-page HTML, run code, measure Core Web Vitals or submit URLs for indexing. Cursor's access to project files is a separate capability of your editor.

Questions worth answering

A practical look at capabilities, reporting boundaries and the MCP connection.

01Can Cursor use my Search Console data through MCP?

Cursor supports remote MCP servers. With a compatible configuration and authorized AskGSC connection, the editor can request GSC reporting data while you work.

02Does AskGSC tell Cursor which source file matches a URL?

No. Search Console returns URLs and metrics. Cursor needs your project context to locate matching routes or files; always verify the mapping.

03Will an AI code edit improve Google rankings?

Not automatically. Search Console reveals demand and movement, not the exact cause. Review the SERP and code, publish deliberately and compare later.

Use search demand to guide the next commit.

Give Cursor real clicks, queries and positions before deciding which page deserves an edit.
